My major research aims to better understand the rapid adaptation of invasive ants on the aspect of the population genomics. I am interested in molecular mechanisms behind the successful invasions.

Current work includes:

The global invasion history of the yellow crazy ant.

The reproductive model of the yellow crazy ant.

The genetic mechanisms of successful invasions.

With the convenience of the global trades, the alien species successfully establish new populations in new environments.

However, newcomers often arise ecologically disasters. To understand the source of alien species and the mechanism of the successful invasion, the invasion route of the alien species is needed to be revealed.

Especially in the yellow crazy ant, one of the top five worst invasive ants in the world, neither invasion history nor native habitat range have been defined In my first study, I will utilize the molecular marker for revelling the invasion history of this ant by taking advantages of next-generation sequencing techniques.
